'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith renews battle with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the nail-biting closing stages of his team's remarkable turnaround win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles after the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful effort from distance, and Cameron Burgess immediately slammed home the loose ball before charging toward the crowd to mark the goal, with supporters congregating around the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

This completed an incredible turnaround given the team had found themselves down 2-0 during the latter period. Amid the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a spectator sort of calling out and we were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're humans, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory earned a fourth-round fixture at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with Jamie Donley's first-time shot from about way out going in via the crossbar and the Stefan Ortega. It seems unfair that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've awarded it to him for having a go from that distance," commented Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right flank after they changed tactics. That meant getting to grips with City's winger, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the player was among the opposition who paid tribute to the way his former team attacked the game.

Guardiola's System

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the basics and simple things, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they are adept at manage and take the sting out of a game. You can believe you're all right and then abruptly they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even seeing. You have to be focused every second of the game. It demands a tough attitude and focus just to keep pace."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and beat off competition to secure him in the summer in a significant move. He became a favorite as a popular figure across a couple of years at his former club and has quickly done the same in Wales. At Orient he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at his loan club from Old Trafford. Then came a spell at lower division Salford City, before he departed Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think numerous professionals would say under-23s football is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like play is circulated without real physicality. There are limited hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adjust fast."

International Recognition

He has demonstrated that maturation for both domestically and internationally, performing well for the Green and White Army, who are fighting to qualify for the international competition next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the past five games, including both legs games against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he handles the football and his eye for a killer pass.

Humble Beginnings

It has been a remarkable path for the kid from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who was raised observing his parent, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for his father's team.

Manchester United Experience

Galbraith's single match for Manchester United came in the away trip in 2019, a Europa League trip to the Kazakh capital, where they competed on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was sealed owing to conditions of freezing cold. "It was a extended travel and it was cold out there," he recalls, chuckling. "The days leading up, several youth players and I trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and earn some playing time at the end was amazing."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he transferred from aged 16? "It was fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I understood I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it got to the point where I felt I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play first-team games. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

Life in Swansea

It is mid-afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at late afternoon: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Before his recent move to Sketty, the young professional was a constant rider in Swansea's so-called team minibus, a team vehicle driven by club employees, the drivers, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, an Ivorian player – Melker Widell used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to socialize with the lads but I'm planning to be the next one to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside followers on public transport after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
